A brand-new Fulshear sales-tax permit often means a shop is about to take its first card payment, and that is when a POS install still shapes the checkout
Week-one Fulshear sales-tax permits: a POS installer's route
Published
Marcus runs a one-person POS and card-reader install route out of Fulshear, helping boutiques, cafés and home-based sellers get a working checkout before opening day. His best new customers are people in the weeks right after the sales-tax permit lands and before the first sale, when they still need a terminal, a receipt printer and a clean way to take cards without duct-taping a phone to the counter.
Driving FM 1093 and Cross Creek Ranch looking for "coming soon" paper in windows was slow, and by the time a referral came through the owner had already bought a cheap dongle and lived with it. A brand-new Texas sales-tax permit at a Fulshear address is the earlier signal he wanted, because almost every seller who will collect tax has to get one before the first swipe.
What changed
He bought FulshearLead for $19. After Stripe checkout, the CSVs were emailed directly from Armorlight: 7-day and 30-day files from the Texas Comptroller's list of permitted sales-tax locations, filtered to Fulshear jurisdiction, with the business and location name, NAICS industry code, street address, ZIP, inside-city-limits flag, permit date and first-sale date. The state file has no phone or owner-contact column, so the CSVs have neither.
That week
- Mon: opened the 30-day file: 32 new Fulshear-jurisdiction sales-tax permits dated Sep 14 to Oct 3. The 7-day window from that same pull was empty, which is normal for the state file, so the 30-day sheet was his list.
- Tue: sorted by ZIP and city-limits flag. Twenty-four of the 32 were in ZIP 77441, and 16 were marked inside city limits. A mix of residential streets and retail corridors matched the boutiques and cottage sellers he already installs for.
- Wed: filtered by industry code. Five permits were coded 454110 for electronic shopping and three were 454390 other direct selling, his core lane for online and pop-up sellers who suddenly need a card reader. He also flagged two limited-service restaurants (722513), then skipped electrical and specialty-trade codes that were not POS fits.
- Thu: checked the first-sale date column. Eleven businesses listed a first sale after the permit date or still ahead on the calendar, meaning they had not sold yet when the permit landed. He started outreach with those not-yet-open rows, offering a fixed-fee terminal install and a simple monthly support plan.
The file became his monthly prospecting list: every new Fulshear permit along his existing Cross Creek and downtown route is a warm intro without cold-calling strangers from a bought list.
Illustrative scenario: Marcus is a composite operator, not a named customer. The permit counts, ZIPs, industry codes and first-sale dates come from a real FulshearLead 7-day and 30-day file generated Oct 12, 2026.
