Charlotte outdoor living — permit week is the window for lighting and fan wiring
Week-one Charlotte permits: a south Charlotte deck-lighting installer's route
Andre installs low-voltage deck, stair and pergola lighting across south Charlotte. He needs to show up the week the City of Charlotte building permit issues — while the framing is open and before the homeowner picks fixtures with someone else.
Cold dumps failed. Charlotte issued building permits (trailing 7 days) are the trigger.
What changed
He bought CltLead for $19. After Stripe, the CSVs were emailed directly from Armorlight: a 7-day and a 30-day file with permit type, project name, project address, ZIP, building cost, square footage and issue date.
That week
- Mon: filtered the 7-day file (17 permits, issued Sep 21–25) to outdoor structures: a new deck in 28277, a rear deck replacement and expansion in 28270, a 21x13 deck rebuild in 28226, a 12x14 gazebo in 28273 and a patio pavilion in 28210.
- Tue: the city data has no phone field, so he routed the five addresses by ZIP and left door hangers with a stair-light and post-cap quote.
- Thu: flagged the pavilion and gazebo for a ceiling-fan + string-light package, and put an ADU-above-garage permit in 28205 on his follow-up list.
Illustrative scenario: Andre is a composite operator, not a named customer. The permit counts and project types come from a real CltLead 7-day file.
